Then come and stay at B&B De Klinkende Munt: a spacious and comfortable apartment, situated at the edge of the convivial Lombok district; along the canal, with a view of the characteristic Royal Dutch Mint (Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt) building. A stone’s throw from Utrecht’s lively city centre, the Jaarbeurs (the exhibition hall) and the Central Station.

The apartment

B&B De Klinkende Munt is located on the ground floor of our house on the Leidsekade, a quiet tree-lined street of houses built around 1900.

The apartment has its own entrance and consists of two spacious, connected rooms, a separate kitchen, a shower, a toilet and a city garden. You sleep in the garden-side room. On the street side is a living room with a sofa bed, dining table, television and a well-filled bookcase.

The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, Nespresso coffee machine and an electric kettle.

You can enter the city garden through French windows in the bedroom.

Wi-Fi is free.

De Klinkende Munt is suitable for two people, but also for families with one or two (younger) children. We can provide a child’s bed on request.

Cyclists are welcome. Utrecht is an ideal city for cyclists and from our B&B you can make splendid tours through the beautiful province of Utrecht. We would enjoy giving you advice.

The neighbourhood

Lombok is a lively neighbourhood. The well-known Kanaalstraat is a bubbling mix of Surinam-Turkish-Dutch-Iranian-Moroccan spirit of enterprise. You can imagine being somewhere far away, the baker is open, un-Dutch, seven days a week, and you can get a delicious meal close by. You will encounter various Lombok locals in the many shops, coffee bars, snack bars and small restaurants. Young and old, families, students; this former authentic Utrecht working-class district is a nice place to be for all.

Our house is located at the intersection of the Leidse Rijn river and the Merwede canal. Increasingly more people are discovering this unique location. This means that in the summer, there is a friendly hustle and bustle along the quays. Locals and visitors can enjoy the view over the water, enjoy a drink and when the water’s warm, watch the children diving. You can also simply walk over a bridge into the Oog in Al park. A little further along the canal are a couple of inviting outdoor cafés. And after a day spent enjoying the city and its culture, you can enjoy the evening, relaxing in another bit of surprising Utrecht.

One night for 2 people, including breakfast is € 120.00.

We charge € 10.00 per night for the use of a child’s bed. For children from the age of 2 we charge € 30.00 per night. A special rate applies for a family with 2 children. Please contact us for more information.

Vanmiddag zijn we weer terug gekomen uit Utrecht, waar we een nachtje hebben doorgebracht in B&B De Klinkende Munt. En het was ook uitmuntend! Een fijne verblijfsruimte en gastheer Job gaf ons tips voor een restaurant waar je lekker kunt eten of hoe je het beste de binnenstad in kunt lopen en wat leuk is om te gaan bezichtigen in de stad. En dat allemaal in een heerlijk ontspannen sfeer aan de Leidsekade en alles was keurig verzorgd! Absoluut een aanrader!

Heel fijn verblijf gehad in De Klinkende Munt. Job was een excellente gastheer die ons actief aan een parkeerplaats hielp, ons de weg naar de stad wees met tips en ons voorzag van een uitgebreid en lekker ontbijt. De B&B ligt in een charmante wijk van Utrecht en bevat een ruim gastenverblijf. Een aanrader!

Wir haben im Oktober 2016 in diesem schönen B&B gewohnt, bei absolut netten und sehr hilfsbereiten Gastgebern. Reservierung und Absprachen gestalteten sich völlig unkompliziert. Das Appartement im Erdgeschoss ist geschmackvoll und wohl durchdacht eingerichtet. Vom vorderen Zimmer blickt man auf einen Kanal mit Hausbooten, vom Schlafzimmer aus auf den Garten. Die Lage ist gut: etwa 15 Minuten Fußweg zum Hauptbahnhof und 25 Minuten in die Innenstadt. Morgens serviert der Gastgeber im Appartement ein leckeres Frühstück. Bei Bedarf kann er auch viele Tipps für den Besuch von Utrecht geben, zudem steht ein gut bestückter Bücherschrank zur Verfügung. Eine lebendige, historische Stadt mit tollen Möglichkeiten zum Einkaufen und Spazieren entlang wunderschöner Straßen und Grachten. Für Architekturinteressierte unbedingt lohnenswert: das Rietveld Schröder-Huis (mehrere Tage im Voraus buchen!). Ein besonders herzliches Dankeschön an unsere Gastgeber, auch für alle praktische Unterstützung - wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt!!

Op 17 september zijn wij getrouwd in Villa Jongerius in Utrecht. Wij wilden onze huwelijksnacht graag op een bijzondere, ruime en sfeervol ingerichte plek nabij de Villa doorbrengen. De klinkende munt voldeed hier ruimschoots aan! Job en Toke hadden de B&B extra sfeervol aangekleed. Het ontbijt was heerlijk en ruim voldoende. Als we nog een keer in Utrecht moeten overnachten dat is de keuze voor ons niet moeilijk!

Mocht je ooit een overnachting zoeken in Utrecht, dan raad ik dit B&B aan. Het is niet alleen een comfortabel huisje met alles erop en eraan, de gastheer en vrouw zijn ook werkelijk genegen om het jou helemaal naar de zin te maken. Zelf ben ik wegens lichamelijke omstandigheden nogal aan huis gebonden en kon zodoende mijn man niet met alles vergezellen. Dit was voor Job dan weer een reden om extra aandacht te schenken aan eventuele wensen mijnerzijds. De locatie is geweldig en het bed is fantastisch (toch heel belangrijk). Een aangenamere plek zal je niet vinden. Absoluut voor herhaling vatbaar. Bedankt Job en Toke.

How to reach us

By car, B&B De Klinkende Munt can best be accessed via the A2 motorway (exit Ring / Jaarbeurs / Utrecht Centrum). (Paid) parking is normally always available in the street, but you can park for free just a short distance from the apartment. De Klinkende Munt is also about a 10-minute walk from Utrecht Central Station (http://9292.nl/).
